Didi's Dilemma

Whom Maoists in Bengal have most harassed and embarrassed is our Didi. She’s yet to decide which stance regarding the Maoists would suit her best and prove rewarding. She makes different comments at different times on this issue. To start with she said there were no maoists in the state. Next she remarked there were no difference between Maoists and Marxists(CPM) and in fact, they were two sides of the same coin. When asked if Maoists and CPM were the same then why the former killed the latter almost daily, she failed to offer any satisfactory answer. For some time she harped on her demand to withdraw joint forces from Junglemahal, but when she found that her demand fell on the deaf ear of Center which had already declared Maoists were the biggest internal threat to our country, she budged from her stand. Then she hardened her stance and challenged the Maoists to come out of their hideouts and faced her if they’d that courage. She also called upon the Center to deploy military force to tackle Maoists’ problem. But in a few days she switched over to persuasive mood and appealed to them to abjure violence ,open dialogue with the govt and join main stream politics. She even offered to mediate if they so liked. However,it cut no ice. Now she feels jittery over her rebel MP Kabir Suman who’s determined to display black flag before Parliament House demanding Center not to launch proposed Operation Green Hunt and withdraw joint forces from Jangalmahal, which was initially Didi’s demand too. Now has come Maoists’ proposal for 72 days’ cease fire in response to P.Chidambaram’s 72 hours’ suspension of violent activities by Maoists. However,Didi is yet to react to such proposal. Let us see how she reacts!

  1. Mamta Banerjee's main concern now is to defeat CPM in 2011 election. One cannot dispute that Maoists in Bengal are a potent anti-CPM force. Didi wants to utilize it to her advantage. If the Maoists prevent the CPM to file candidates & campain before election in 3 or 4 districts, then Didi would have a vertual walkover in those districts, giving her a much needed boost in the final tally of seats.

  2. Nothing to worry about Maoist. They have declared their support to MB.They wish to see her as CM of West BENGAL long before any [intellectuals]''antels''could open up their mouth. She reciprocates by refusing to condemn the killings of Maoists in SILDA EFR camp.Central Govt is under intense pressure not harden their stand on the Maoists save and except condemning with strongest possible words.Whatever be the statements of PM and HM control lies with the CONGRESS SUPREMO Sonia Maino Gandhi. She is under intense presure and perhaps definite instruction to coordinate all forces and cement unity with TMC even at the wiping out of Congress in West Bengal with the only goal of eliminating Leftists in WBengal mainly CPM,since it is the main party. Sonia Maino Gandhi is duty bound to launch effective onslought against the Leftists.Operation Green Hunt cannot be effectively launched and meticulously executed for the facts in store. Maoists gained ground in Andhra Pradesh-finalised arrangement with Congress. They wont be disturbed by the AP Govt-they in return will not embarass Govt.In Bihar and Jharkhand, politicians in power are dependant on Maoists to acquire CM's chairs and their existance depend on Maoists. So they cannot cooperate in any sort of joint and coordinated operation against Maoists.Only hardle is the foolhardy CPM who is not ready to cede power to TMC even when killing of their cadres, supporters are systematically killed and their homes torhed property looted by TMC and Maoists.Maoists declared seizure of power by armed struggle; on the other hand TMC declared for public consumption peaceful means. But in practice TMC adopts violent means to terrorise and obliterate the Leftists.Time for regrouping and recoupment is vital for the Maoists. TMC Supremo is trying her best to ensure withdrawal of joint forces from the opreation zone.Precious breathing space is essential. Maoists are now assured of full cooperation from Jharkhand and Bihar Govts. If in the name of ceasefire they can gain time, Maoists could emrge stronger and more menacing.Let's hope MB will be able to backmail the Congress and attain her goal and also fulfil he r lifelong dream of reaching Writes Buildings.

  3. It's a dangerous and if not suicidal game plan for Mamata to utilise the Maoists to eliminate CPM and gain state's power. Will Maoists spare Mamata after she becomes CM?Definitely not, they'll fleece her to spread their base in the state and make her life misearable. We people too will feel the heat and stake our sfety and security!

  5. Regarding rejoinder.Power hungry maverick politicians like Mb are easy prey to the traps and machinations of the most successful agenies of the world- the department of dirty tricks-cia which has the ability and network through the world to organise and coordinate forces and groupings of all hues from left or right to destabilise and weaken the marxist forces.
