Seditious Statement
Freedom of speech is enshrined in our constitution. But it does not necessarily mean you'd say any thing you like - anything that's prejudicial to the interest of your country and nation.Pakistan has been wrongly claiming since its inception that Kashmir is its part and the writer Arundhuti Ray too now echoes the same demand supporting Pakistan.May be, she's doing it to draw public attention to her but it merits a case of sedition that warrants her immediate detention. Were she born in any other country(say in Pakistan) she would have definitely been behind the bar by now. As here law is much liberal and people are much tolerant she has been still getting away after making such a seditious statement. It's high time aministration could pull her up otherwise many of her followers and admirers would follow suit.

In a bid to justify her speech in the seminar, in a rejoinder published in The Hindu dated 27x10, Arundhati Ray asserted that she is doing it for justice to the people of Kashmir ''who live under one of the most brutal military occupations in the world''.She in that statement also recorded ''Pity the nation that has to silence its writers for speaking their minds. Pity the nation that needs to jail those who ask for justice, while communal killers, mass murderers, corporate scamsters, looters, rapists, and those who prey on the poorest of the poor, roam free''.We know USA and other willing allies in violation of UN Charter invaded ,occupied, devastated the ancient land of civilisation - Iraq. UN had to declare USA,UK and others as the occupying forces.Ray by her statement equated India with those powers. Ti would be naive to assume that celebrities lie Ray are ignorant of the historic fact that India had to intervene and fought out the invading Pakistanis and ultimately freed the princely state of Kashmir, though not totally, under the authority derived from the Instrument of Accession by which Kashmir joined India.By asserting that India had never been an integral part of India, she is playing to gallery of those force who are bent upon dismembering our country.Foreign forces not only Pakistan but also its mentor USA who tried on endless occasions to pass resolutions against India on Kashmir issues in league with Pakistan - but staunch ally like Soviet Union always foiled those attempts in the Security Council. We know Pakistan waged wars on two other occasions to wrest Kashmir. It now wage proxy war against India relentlessly of course with materiel assistance from USA. Ray's crusade for justice is welcome. But is it not selective? Has she ever bothered to sympathise with the toiling masses, adivasis in particular who nave been subjected to the most brutal forms of killings, that too in a systematic manner in the vast stretches of Junglemahal by the Maoists simply being sympathetic to a particular political party? She and her others associates like Medha Patekar Swami Agnibesh prefer to choke their voices shouting for that disruptive forces. One interesting point to note is that her actions always are in favour of the disruptive and secessionist forces. Her hypocritical or one sided approach reveals her true agenda though she pose for upholding justice and human rights etc.But rights are inexorably entwined with obligations and duties which those celebrities are habituated to ignore. Prosecution for sedition is a legal process which will never succeed since legal luminaries will be rushing for sharing the media attention and hogging the limelight of propaganda as these celebrities always want by exhibiting their uniqueness in these games.
